Church leader: clones worse than 'Frankenstein'

Advances in cloning research could lead to horrors that would
surpass even Nazi atrocities and fictional creatures, the leader
of Greece's Orthodox Church warned Tuesday.
"This will create a race of human copies, just as the Nazis
and the Soviets tried to do," Archbishop Christodoulos said
at the opening of a medical conference in Athens.
"Frankenstein and Mengele would pale by comparison,"
said Christodoulos, referring to the Nazi doctor Josef Mengele,
who hunted as a war criminal for his murderous research.
Christodoulos acknowledged that genetic research had many
benefits, but he stressed the need for stricter controls.
